Seven Down!

*HAPPY DANCE*

We just finished another block of medical school!
We're pretty excited!

The first two years (8 blocks) of medical school consist of an extremely rigorous overload of information that medical students are expected to swallow, digest, and be able to spit out by the end of it. Riley just completed his 7th block, and goodness, we can't believe we're this close to the end!

In fact, he just finished the last final exam he will take at VCOM.
He has no more lectures over new material to sit through. The final block is just review and preparation for his Board Examination in July.
(hah. Just board prep. Right.)

We're so thankful that the Lord has brought us through this trying phase, and that we are now able to see that bright light at the end of the tunnel.

Asher took this picture!

I'm so proud of my wonderful husband, and the incredible doctor he is becoming. He's working hard, as unto the Lord, and he is being blessed for his efforts.
Thanks be to God!

Welcome, Spring Break! We're happy to see you!

Spring Snow Showers

So we've been enjoying some lovely Spring weather... oh, wait.

Yep, that's about five inches of snowfall. On Palm Sunday.
It came down in massive clumps!

The path was covered in snow before Riley could even finish
sweeping it!

Despite Asher's obvious excitement, I was feeling a little defiant. It's almost Easter, and while snow on Easter is not really that weird in the Northwest, it's pretty strange in Virginia!
I refused to dress for the snow, and insisted on wearing my springy pastels (although I did change shoes), and I made these festive little birds nests for dessert.

They weren't exactly a weather-appropriate treat, but they were delicious, fun, and a good way to remember that this is, indeed, the week before Resurrection Sunday! And besides, the robins were still outside hopping around on top of the snow, so while the ground was white, it still carried the promise of Spring!

Have a lovely week reflecting on the glories of the Holy week, the wondrous miracle of the cross, and the promise of life everlasting that was given to us through the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

The Family B&B

Look what we have!

A close up of the fabric. I already had the throw pillows, and
they matched perfectly!

If you don't remember our old sofa, it's a pretty big improvement on the space.

And the best part?

It's a sleeper!
And thanks to my parents, it will soon have a memory foam mattress for added comfort.
Gee, I wonder why they wanted to buy us one of those? *wink*

This means that the Family B&B is now open and ready for business!
(Joking about the business, but very serious about the guests!)

It's amazing what a difference a sofa can make!

Sick Day

Mommies don't really get to take "sick days."
Even though we do get sick!

My boys are a happy and healthy little whirlwind,
but I'm a little under the weather.
(Guilty of intentional corny pun, as usual.)

And yet, I find myself surrounded with lovely things to be thankful for in the midst of sickness.

Cheery flowers delivered by my thoughtful husband:

Precious children reading together on the couch:

And morning sunlight pouring through my kitchen window:

Blessings abound. I can't help but smile!
(Between coughs...)

Three cheers for Spring and the end of sickness-season!
